Tagsonomy
Taxonomy described via MetaTag-s
- except it usually lacks a Hierarchal Structure, it's really just a bit flat NameSpace.
see also Folksonomy - a Tagsonomy isn't necessarily a Folksonomy - the latter must be applied across a sufficiently large Critical Mass of users to allow convergence via Emergence.
The tag is the soul of the Internet.
Who gets to tag?
Anyone (even anonymous)? Any registered user? (Folksonomy) Or only the "owner" of an item?
Examples:
-
slower.net turned off tagging
-
FlickR lets you tag other people's photos
-
Del.icio.us of course lets anyone tag anything
-
what about when there's E Commerce at stake? do you let your competitors tag your stuff?
