First Line
Context: you want to make the first line of a page in your Digital Garden useful
Forces:
- you have many pages in your digital garden
- a new reader might feel overwhelmed
Solutions:
- make the first line of every page a good intro/summary to the page (in combination with the page name. (See Designing Good Page Names.)
- if the page is a response/reaction to another page, include that in the first line
- if you're following a structured taxonomy like IBIS, use the appropriate Class in the first line
- use the first line of a page as its Description in various meta tags. (See (2022-08-28) Twitter Cards for FluxGarden.)
- include (at least) the first line of the page in its RSS feed.
- include the first line of the page in previews of the page (FrontPage, Recent Changes, mouse-overs, etc.)
