An area raising the big question of Buy Build Avoid

Here's my interest in this area documented from 1995.

Typically very expensive ($100K+) plus equal amounts of consulting/Customization time. In fact, the lines between a content-oriented framework or Application Server and a CMS is very blurry.

Some cheap alternatives:

• systems based on Open Source solutions

  • Zope: Cmf Zope, Plone

  • PHP: Php Nuke, etc.

  • (lots of others)

• Userland Manila

• Joel Spolsky's software

• WebCrimson

• Atomz Publish ASP
